Bella Vista Motel Wellington

The staff were friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to help with local maps and bus routes. The room was neat and comfortable.

We really enjoyed the apartment which was functional. The bed was comfortable and there were an electric kettle, a microwave, and central heating to use.

The staff was attentive and outstandingly accommodating - we would go back in flash. Overall it was beautifully maintained and good sized with a spa tub. The food was good and the location was perfect! A shopping mall and supermarkets were right next door. The hotel had a great restaurant which offered 50 % off main courses for dinner.

For families, be sure to ask for a ground floor room if you have a lot of luggage. The staff are really accommodating.

Compact room with no storage but clean facilities made it acceptable. Convenient access to the bus stop for city travel.

'Bella Vista' is convenient to Wellington city. A quiet place out of the bustle of the city, yet close enough to be at Te Papa in 15 minutes by car. We had a fridge and microwave, toaster and jug, and a small table for eating at, as well as a desk for working. A separate room had shower/ loo and basin. Everything very clean. Parking was free, as also was a certain amount of wireless internet. Richard the proprietor showed us how to operate the heater and television remote, and quick to supply a new lamp when it was pointed out the one on the desk did not operate.

Our room was small, and the bed was two singles pushed together, resulting in a hard rib down the centre of the bed. The walls were thin enough for our spoken conversation at 11 pm (when we arrived home after dinner with friends), to result in a rap on the wall from next door. We could hear the neighbour's snores the next night. Bella Vista, despite being on Evans Bay, does not translate to a 'beautiful view', although this may have been the case once before it was built out. Finally, I'm not keen on notes in motel rooms, and the one in the kitchen here threatened possible action if we did not keep the kitchen clean and tidy during our stay.

The reception was warm, and the manager, Richard, were very good, even offering to drive me to dinner in the city. My room, a One-Bedroom Apartment, was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. The heater kept the room cozy during the cold nights. It's also conveniently located just a short drive from local shops and eateries. The shower's hot/cold lever was reversed, a bit confusing but was good. The parking was easy to access. I had a great time exploring the area, thanks to the recommendations Richard provided. The only downside was that I wish I could have stayed longer to explore more.

I arrived late in the evening on a very windy Wellington night and Richard had the heater on in the room and made sure I was comfortable, checking what I wanted for breakfast and asking me if I wanted a paper. Freindly with out being over the top.
